Over 20 European Mouflon Brought to Shahristan Mountains
DUSHANBE, 04.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, 23 European mouflon were brought to the Kimkuli area in the Shahristan district to diversify its forestry.
Shahristan is one of the few Sughd areas with the suitable climate for the breeding and care of mouflon. The animals will be herded in order to attract tourists and develop animal husbandry.
While on his trip to the Kimkul area, the Chairman of Sughd Rajabboy Ahmadzoda instructed officials to increase the number of mouflon in the mountainous areas of Shahristan, Asht, Panjakent and Istiklol, and stressed their importance in attracting additional tourists.
Local officials were also instructed to develop yak breeding in the highlands of the region, to plant potatoes on the flat lands of forestry and to establish new forests.
