Over 650 Tajik Citizens Return from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan
DUSHANBE, 20.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – On June 20, 2020, 553 Tajik citizens who found themselves stranded at the Jibek Joly checkpoint on the Kazakh-Uzbek border due to border closures were returned home, reported the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Additionally, over a hundred Tajik who were stranded in Uzbekistan were also returned to Tajikistan through the Fotekhobod border crossing.
The Tajik side has expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for their prompt assistance in organizing contactless corridors, and the International Organization for Migration for their assistance in providing vehicles for the transportation of passengers.
