COVID-19 Pandemic Adversely Affected All Modes of Transportation
DUSHANBE, 15.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Today at a press conference, the Tajik Transport Minister Khudoyor Khudoyorzoda said that the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected the activities of all modes of international transportation.
In particular, international volumes of cargo and passengers have declined significantly.
“The damage from the pandemic’s impact is estimated at 132 million somoni. The appropriate measures are being taken by the Ministry to solve this problem,” added Khudoyorzoda.
In the past six months, over 38 million tons of cargo and over 296 million passengers have been transported by all means of transport in Tajikistan.
The transportation of goods and passengers in international directions, which was previously carried out through 18 border checkpoints, is currently carried out through only six border in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
