Foreign Ministry Preparing for Tajikistan’s Chairmanship of the SCO and CSTO

DUSHANBE, 27.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Next year, Dushanbe will host the meetings of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and an anniversary meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its formation. This was said today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin at a press conference.
It should be noted that in 2021 Dushanbe was declared the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
According to him, presidential elections, including for citizens that are abroad, the chairmanship of the SCO and CSTO as well as the celebration of the 30th anniversary of independence require serious preparations from the ministry.
Muhriddin also said that in connection with the spread of the coronavirus and consequential restrictions, it was decided to postpone the Second International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” until next year.
