DUSHANBE, 21.08.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Khorugh as part of his working visit to GBAO.

There he attended the opening ceremony of the secondary educational institution No. 8, the unveiling ceremony of the National Flag Square in Ismoili Somoni Square, the new building of the branch of Amonatbonk, and participated in the foundation-laying ceremony for the 200-meter road bridge across the Ghund River.

The road bridge project is implemented with the support of the government and funding from the World Bank and was developed by Temelsu International​ Engineering​ Services​ Inc of Turkey.

The opening ceremony for the four-story Bahori Ishk garment factory, which was constructed by local entrepreneur Muqarabsho Noibshoyev, followed the list.​ The factory, which employs 50 women, specializes in school uniforms.

This was followed by the opening ceremony of the three-story Nigini Khorugh shopping center, which was constructed by local entrepreneur Aidibek Bekmurod. Here President Rahmon met with orphans from Khorog, Murgob, Ishkashim, Shugnon and Roshtkala districts. Here he presented 100 orphans, children with disability and vulnerable people with cash assistance.

Following this meeting, President Rahmon attended an exhibition of​ agricultural products, which showcased​ a wide range of agricultural products, fruits and vegetables, organic honey and medicinal plants.

In the first six months of 2020, the total volume of agricultural product in the region amounted to 110.1 million somoni, which is 1.2 million somoni more than in the same period last year.

Within the framework of the Development Program of Gardening and Wine Growing for 2016 – 2020, this year in GBAO 16.5 hectares of new gardens have been created and about nine hectares of old gardens have been restored.

President Rahmon also participated in opening ceremony for the new building of the GBAO Regional Theater​ of​ Musical Comedy named after Mehrubon Nazarov.

Following acquainted with the conditions created in theater, President Rahmon met with the local intelligentsia in the great hall of the theater and attended a performance by local artists.
