Implementation of the Two EU Projects for Sustainable Tourism Development in Tajikistan Begins

DUSHANBE, 29.09.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – A video conference was held with the participation of representatives of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in order to open the first stage of the implementation of two joint grant projects of the European Union (EU) for the sustainable development of the tourism sector.
In the video conference, Tajikistan was remotely represented by the responsible persons of the Committee for Tourism Development and the heads of the Community Association and the Association of Microfinance Organizations.
The head of the EU Delegation to Tajikistan Francesco Stranier noted that currently, through the Office of the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development in the region, projects Tourism Initiatives based on the Silk Road Society: Connecting Tourism in a Society Based on the Central Asian and European Market and Promoting Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Production in the Tourism Sector of Central Asia are being implemented.
The representative of the Committee for Tourism Development noted that the support of the government in the implementation of such projects aimed at the tourism development is timely during the announcement of the Years of Rural Development, Tourism and Folk Crafts and once again testifies to the special attention of President Emomali Rahmon to tourism development.
In the context of the spread of coronavirus, it is very important to attract foreign investment in the country’s tourism industry, especially in the direction of the development of renewable environmentally friendly electricity infrastructure, in the Zarafshon Valley, cities and districts of republican subordination, the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and other remote mountain regions, their implementation contributes to the improvement of conditions tourist facilities.
