DUSHANBE, 09.12.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – The Minister of Agriculture Sulaimon Ziyozoda attended the second meeting of the Central Asian Ministers of Agriculture to discuss digital agriculture. The meeting was held in an online format.
The focus was on transforming the industry by developing and implementing a digital agriculture strategy.
The meeting also identified potential areas in which innovative digital technologies can be implemented in the short term.
COVID-19 has shown that governments and the private sector have the ability to rapidly scale up existing technologies and implement strategies and mechanisms to find solutions to the crisis. Digital solutions such as mobile money, electronic payments, e-commerce and information and advisory services using ICTs can enhance the resilience of the agri-food system and provide vital technical services to farmers.
Supported by digital technologies, agriculture can be a driving force not only for economic recovery, but also for improving its quality, especially for farmers.
The meeting is a big step for sharing experience in digitalizing the agricultural sector, identifying a number of innovative digital solutions in agriculture, and laying the foundation for long-term projects.
