Dushanbe Hosts Briefing on Tajikistan’s Presidency in the SCO

DUSHANBE, 15.01.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a presentation of the priorities of the chairmanship and events planned to be held under Tajikistan’s presidency in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in 2020-2021.
The media representatives were presented with the goals of the SCO presidency aimed at strengthening friendship and good-neighborliness between the member states, further developing the Shanghai spirit, maintaining peace, security and stability in the region, building up cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as strengthening the image and international positioning of the Organization.
In order to achieve the set goals, President Emomali Rahmon approved the Concept of the country’s presidency in the SCO, in accordance with which a Plan of Major Events and a Plan of Domestic Measures were prepared.

Over 100 events are planned during Tajikistan’s presidency.
The country’s presidency will end with an anniversary meeting of the Council of Heads of State, scheduled to be held on September 16-17 in Dushanbe.
The symbol of the SCO 20th anniversary and the website of Tajikistan’s presidency (www.scosummit2021.tj) were also presented at the briefing.
