Tajikistan Plans to Increase Cement Exports to 1.9 Million Tonnes by 2023

DUSHANBE, 17.03.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan plans to bring cement exports to 1.9 million tonnes by 2023.
As forecasted the main macroeconomic indicators of Tajikistan for 2021-2023, the annual growth in cement exports is projected at 200,000 tonnes. By that time, its volume of production is planned to increased to 5.3 million tonnes.
Currently, 16 enterprises are engaged in the production of cement, the annual capacity of which is estimated at 5.6 million tonnes.
Over 4.2 million tonnes of cement was produced in Tajikistan last year. According to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, over 1.3 million tonnes of the total produced volume was exported to neighboring countries.
Uzbekistan and Afghanistan became the main importers of Tajik cement. Over 760,000 tonnes of cement was sold to Uzbekistan. The volume of exports to Afghanistan amounted to 505,000 tonnes, and 42,000 tonnes of cement was exported to Kyrgyzstan.
