President Emomali Rahmon Receives CSTO Security Council Secretaries

DUSHANBE, 29.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with heads of delegations taking part in the meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
At the outset of the meeting, President Rahmon noted the importance of cooperation between CSTO member nations. “An important link in our joint efforts to achieve these goals is the effective work of the Secretaries of the Security Councils,» he said.
He also touched upon the necessity of strengthening and expanding cooperation between the CSTO member nations with regard to the difficult situation in the international community, intensification of modern threats and challenges and their impact on the security of the CSTO member nations, rising international tensions due to geopolitical competition and other factors threatening the security and stability of countries.
When discussing latest development in the neighboring Afghanistan, the officials focused on drug trafficking, acute global socioeconomic and financial crisis, and their impact on the national security, and economy, and biosecurity.
Close collaboration of special intelligence agencies of the SCTO member nations in the fight against cybercrime was also noted.
At the end of the meeting, President Rahmon expressed hope that a session of the CSTO Committee of Security Council Secretaries will yield results in achieving the set goals during the chairmanship of Tajikistan.
