High-level meetings and negotiations between Tajikistan and Mongolia at the Palace of the Nation

DUSHANBE, 24.07.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – After the official welcoming ceremony of the high-ranking guest, during a special meeting of the Heads of State and extensive negotiations with the participation of the delegations of Tajikistan and Mongolia, the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, as well as topical issues of the international and regional agenda, were discussed.
The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, welcomed the visit of the distinguished guest, the President of Mongolia and the official delegation of this country to Tajikistan, and emphasized the attachment of the Tajik side to the comprehensive development of relations with friendly Mongolia.
The Head of our state expressed confidence that today’s fruitful exchange of views will give a positive impetus to the process of strengthening and expanding cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Recalling the importance of high-level political dialogue and the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations, the parties stressed the need to activate the work of the Joint Inter-Parliamentary Friendship and Cooperation Group as an important means of expanding multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
In order to further enlarge the scope of trade and economic cooperation, the Tajik side proposed the development and adoption of a Cooperation Program and a Sectoral Strategy for Joint Actions to Increase Trade Turnover for the Near Future. At the same time, the establishment of the Tajik-Mongolian Business Council was considered appropriate.
In this regard, it was deemed important to hold regular meetings of business circles and exhibitions of goods and products of the two countries.
The first meeting of business and trade circles of the parties, which will be held today in Dushanbe, was considered an important step in this direction.
Issues of enhancing cooperation in the agricultural sector, including in the livestock sector, were of particular interest.
The processing industry, especially light and food industry, as well as mining and processing of minerals, were named as promising areas of cooperation.
The issue of promoting the «green» agenda and implementing sustainable development goals was considered by both sides.
Another priority area of cooperation was the tourism sector. In this regard, the Leader of the Nation highlighted the vast opportunities of Tajikistan for the development of mountaineering, ecological and health tourism.
Great attention was paid to the issue of developing cooperation between the regions of the two countries as an effective form of expanding direct economic ties.
During the conversation, the Head of our state, referring to the important role of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in promoting the entire range of relations between Tajikistan and Mongolia, considered it necessary to start its activities in the near future.
Particular attention was paid to issues related to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties. The holding of the Days of Mongolian Culture in Tajikistan was considered an important first step in this direction.
The parties also agreed to foster ties in the fields of science, education, mass media, museums, youth policy, and sports.
At the same time, an exchange of views was held on pressing issues of the global and regional agenda, and the parties agreed to continue constructive cooperation between the two countries in this regard within the framework of multilateral institutions, in particular the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
The Head of our State expressed satisfaction with the continuous assistance of Mongolia in promoting Tajikistan’s global initiatives on water and climate issues, and called for practical cooperation between the two countries in combating security threats and dangers.
