DUSHANBE, 29.06.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the CEO of Glencore International AG Ivan Glasenberg.

The discussion focused on the current state and prospects of trade, economic, and investment relations between Tajikistan and Switzerland.

More than 25 Swiss and joint enterprises with the participation of Swiss investment now operate in Tajikistan and effective partnership between Glencore and TALCO is a prime example of cooperation in the field of aluminum production. The total trade turnover between the two companies in the last five years alone has exceeded one billion dollars.

The discussion also focused on technological modernization of TALCO, complete processing of primary aluminum, and setting up the production of final products and increasing TALCO’s production capacity to 1 million tonnes.

The parties also discussed the opportunities of cooperation for the implementation of projects aiming developing and exploring gold, silver, zinc, and antimony deposits in Tajikistan. The establishment of metallurgical plant by Glenkor’s investment in Tajikistan was also touched upon.
