DUSHANBE, 14.07.2021. (NIAT Khovar) — The second part of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO CFM), which took place today in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of the Tajik side, focused on the political situation in Afghanistan.
The political instability and the continuation of the armed conflict in Afghanistan, which causes significant financial and human losses, threatens the security and stability not only of neighboring countries, but also of other SCO member states and the region as a whole.
The officials discussed cooperation in the field of security and the organization of consultative meetings on the situation in Afghanistan and the peace process by SCO member states.
It was reported that in order to ensure the process of peace negotiations in Afghanistan, negotiations between representatives of the Afghan government and armed opposition groups were recently held in Doha, Tehran, and Moscow with the assistance of the allied states, and political agreements were signed during the negotiations. However, armed attacks and terrorist acts continue in various parts of Afghanistan, which cause serious concern.
The Afghan Peace Plan, developed by the government of Afghanistan, aims to end the violence and provides for decisive steps to restore peace and stability.
