Tajik and Turkmen Enterprises Sign Cooperation Documents

DUSHANBE, 09.08.2021 (NIAT Khovar) — The share of trade with Central Asian countries in Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover increased to 28.3%. This was noted at the Central Asian Economic Forum which took place in the Awaza tourist zone in Turkmenbashi as part of President Emomali Rahmon’s visit to Turkmenistan for the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
The forum was opened by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. It was attended by the Tajik delegation headed by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda.
Zavkizoda noted that Tajikistan is taking measures to implement intergovernmental programs of trade and economic cooperation, as well as several roadmaps to increase trade turnover with Central Asian countries.
He also presented Tajikistan’s wide investment potential in trade, economic, industrial, agricultural and tourism spheres.
Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim and Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma also presented their proposals.
During the forum, Tajik and Turkmen enterprises and institutions signed four agreements and a memorandum.
According to these documents, 50,000 tonnes of petroleum coke, 50,000 tonnes of aviation fuel, liquefied gas, chemicals and mineral fertilizers will be imported from Turkmenistan to Tajikistan, and 10,000 tonnes of aluminum will be exported from Tajikistan every year. Competitive tariffs for the transportation and transit of goods by rail will be presented.
Forum participants also exchanged views and broadly discussed trade, economic and investment cooperation in Central Asia and the deepening of integration processes in priority sectors of the countries’ economies.
