DUSHANBE, 26.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali received the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Tajikistan Timothy Aidan Marshall Jones at his request.

Emomali congratulated Jones on his appointment to this post and wished him success.

He noted that the diplomatic relationship between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom was established 30 years ago, and regular high-level political relations created a favorable basis for the development of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two states.

Emomali also noted that inter-parliamentary cooperation is an effective factors in expanding relations between the two states and that strengthening ties of the Friendship and Cooperation Group of the National Assembly with the Upper House of the British Parliament is considered a priority in the implementation of mutually beneficial initiatives and the development of further bilateral relations.

The parties discussed the state of interstate cooperation in trade, economy, investment, science, and education.

While discussing issues related to regional and world security, especially taking into account the political situation in Afghanistan, the parties emphasized the need to expand cooperation to strengthen the border, and strengthen the fight against modern challenges and threats.
