World Bank Takes a Number of Measures in Tajikistan’s Health Sector to Attract Additional Funds

DUSHANBE, 24.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The World Bank mission completed a number of measures in Tajikistan within a month to implement projects in the health sector and attract additional funds, reports the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population.
Yesterday, the Minister of Health Jamoliddin Abdullozoda and the Human Development Director for Europe and Central Asia Region Fadia Saadah exchanged views on cooperation in the implementation of the Population’s Health Strategy for the period up to 2030.
Abdullozoda noted that the World Bank is a reliable strategic partner of Tajikistan, which has provided grant assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the support of the World Bank, the country’s Ministry of Health is implementing the Improvement of Medical Service project in Khatlon and Sughd regions, and since 2021 it has begun to implemented it in six other pilot districts. Currently, the project covers 16 pilot districts.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Bank launched an emergency project to combat the virus in Tajikistan. It aimed to strengthen the capacity of intensive care and rehabilitation, support information activities, and provid one-time social benefits in the amount of 500 somoni to those in need.
