Tajikistan Develops Development Strategy for Green Economy

DUSHANBE, 04.02.2022 (NIAT Khovar) — The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan is developing a Green Economy Development Strategy within the framework of an interdepartmental working group with the involvement of domestic and foreign experts. This was stated by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda on February 2 during a press conference.
Tajikistan has rich resources in the field of energy, agriculture, and the production of environmentally friendly products.
Green economy is one of the modern areas of the economy, the interest for which has been increasing in recent years. Experts are confident that in the future green economy will cover all areas. In particular, in agriculture with the use of organic fertilizers instead of mineral fertilizers (animal and bird droppings, composting), biological methods of plant protection instead of pesticides, construction of solar greenhouses, introduction of drip irrigation, and the storage of melted water in arid regions.
Tajikistan has made significant progress in the development of the green economy. Due to hydropower, Tajikistan ranks first among the CIS countries in the production of environmentally friendly electricity.
In this regard, the renovation and construction of hydroelectric power plants will continue, and soon the country will begin the production of electric vehicles, electric buses and electric trolley buses, which is a logical continuation of the green economy development.
