Commissioner for Human Rights Meets UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 15.03.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan Umed Bobozoda met with the newly appointed Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Tajikistan Lenny Montiel.
They exchanged views on various human rights issues.
The meeting focused on further opportunities for cooperation and assistance in the development of the activities of the Authorized Body for Human Rights in Tajikistan.
Bobozoda informed Montiel in detail about the activities of the Authorized Body for Human Rights, especially about the priority areas of the Strategy of the Authorized Body for Human Rights.
He noted that Tajikistan is constantly putting effort to fulfill its international obligations to respect and protect human rights, and due to this, contribution of the authorized body for human rights in Tajikistan is significant.
The parties exchanged views on cooperation between authorized human rights bodies within the framework of ensuring the observance and protection of human rights, familiarization with the reform of the UN system, completion of the second term of the project concerning the rule of law and access to justice in order to develop the capabilities of people in Tajikistan, as well as continuation of cooperation in the third practical period of this project, to fulfill the international obligations of Tajikistan regarding the recommendations of the member states of the UN Council on Human Rights in the framework of the Universal Periodic Review, and other important areas.
