PM Rasulzoda Chairs Meeting of Organizing Committee for Dushanbe Water Conference

DUSHANBE, 19.05.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, one of the final meetings of the organizing committee for the Second High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” was held in Dushanbe.
The meeting was headed by Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda, who is also serving as the chairman of the Organizing Committee.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee Sirojiddin Muhriddin informed about the preparations for the Dushanbe Water Conference.
He noted that the secretariat of the conference, which consists of 11 people, was created at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with invitation sent to the heads of state and government, the leadership of the UN, and other relevant international organizations. More than 2,000 foreign guests have already registered and confirmed their participation.
The Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea Sulton Rahimzoda spoke about the preparations for the International Exhibition within the framework of the conference.
The meeting participants were informed about the course of the Global Marathon with the participation of the Australian runner, the founder and CEO of the Thirst Foundation, which began in Dushanbe on May 15 and will end in New York on the eve of the opening of the UN Water Conference.
Representatives of the leadership of other ministries and departments reported on the preparations for the Water Festival, the schedule of excursions for foreign participants of the Second High-Level Conference to places of historical and cultural heritage sites, as well as on logistics and other organizational activities.
Following the meeting, Rasulzoda gave several specific instructions to the relevant ministries and departments for the speedy completion of the remaining work for the conference.
Dushanbe Water Conference dedicated to the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028» titled «Promoting action and partnerships in the field of water resources at the local, national, regional, and global levels» will be held from June 6 from June 9, 2022.
