Foreign Trade Turnover Between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Increases Significantly

DUSHANBE, 16.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On the sidelines of the 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda met with the Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov.
Abdurahmonzoda noted that the foreign trade turnover between the two countries is gradually expanding and in 2021 amounted to $447.8 million, which is a significant increase compared to previous years.
The issue of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO was also touched upon. The experience of Tajikistan in the process of joining this organization was presented.
The parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen trade and economic ties.
