Passenger Train Left Dushanbe for Tashkent Yesterday
DUSHANBE, 21.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, after a 30-year break, the first passenger train left Dushanbe for Tashkent.
The opening ceremony of the passenger railway route Dushanbe-Tashkent-Dushanbe was attended by the Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim and representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tajikistan.
Ibrohim called this event important for the residents of both countries, noting that the movement of passenger trains on the route of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan is the result of the efforts of the leaders of both states.
He added that along with the movement of trains, passenger transportation by buses will also be established in the future, and work is currently underway to open new routes.
According to the officials of the State Unitary Enterprise Tajik Railways, the train runs from Dushanbe weekly on Monday at 18:30 and arrives on Tuesday at 13:43 in Tashkent. The passenger train on the route Dushanbe-Tashkent will overcome 916 km in 21 hours to reach the capital of Uzbekistan. The ticket price is from 370 somoni in one direction.
The passenger train on the route Dushanbe-Tashkent-Dushanbe crosses the cities and districts of Dehnav, Shurchi, Boysun, Dehkonobod, Karshi, Marokand Samarkand, Jizzakh, Zaamin, and Guliston.
The train returns to Dushanbe by the same route at 16:15.
The resumption of railway communication between the countries was announced after the meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on June 2, 2022 in Tashkent.
