DUSHANBE, 06.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Mark Bowman.
The meeting took place in Dushanbe, within the margins of the Second Dushanbe Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028.
The discussion focused on the development of Tajikistan – EBRD cooperation.
While expressing satisfaction over the level of bilateral cooperation, President Rahmon noted that Tajikistan – EBRD cooperation in various fields has been developing over 30 years of and today it is at a high level of partnership.
To date, the EBRD has financed 150 projects in Tajikistan worth more than $850 million, the implementation of which plays a significant role in the development of the country’s economy.
It was considered necessary to attract more funds for development of the private sector, for economic growth, manufacturing assistance for final processing of agricultural product, and the development of the country’s financial market.
The officials continued discussing the implementation of measures to eliminate the negative effects of the pandemic on Tajikistan’s economy and to attract funds for the implementation of hydropower projects in Tajikistan.
Other issues of mutual interest were also touched upon.
