Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan Provided Humanitarian Assistance to 10,000 Families

DUSHANBE, 18.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – For the first half of 2022, the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan (RCST) with the support of development partners provided humanitarian assistance in the form of food to about 10,000 families. This was announced on July 14 during the presentation of a report on the results of activities for the first half of 2022 by the Secretary General of the RCST Bahodur Kurboniyon.
He noted that this assistance was provided as part of the humanitarian cooperation with the support of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre of Saudi Arabia, the Red Crescent Society of the State of Qatar, and the Red Crescent Society of Turkey.
“Assistance was provided to 1,300 families in GBAO, 2,975 families in Dushanbe, 500 families in Istiklol, 150 families in Buston, 800 families in Vahdat, 800 families in Kulob, 300 families in Rogun, 800 families in Dangara, 800 families in Rasht, 300 families in Fayzobod, 300 families in Sangvor, 500 families in Ayni, and 1,000 families in Varzob,” added the Secretary General.
Also, in cooperation with the Red Crescent Society of Qatar, during Ramadan humanitarian assistance in the form of food was provided to 300 families in need, persons with disabilities, and pupils of boarding schools and various orphanages.
With the support of the Red Crescent Society of Turkey, essential food items were delivered to boarding schools in Sughd, Khatlon, cities and districts of republican subordination, and Dushanbe.
In the first half of 2022, an agreement was signed between the RCST and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre for the launch of the second phase of the project “Guidance for orphans in Tajikistan,» through which 600 orphans in cities and districts of Khatlon and GBAO can receive support within 12 months. Support for each orphan child is carried out by opening a bank card for them. According to the agreement, the equivalent of $100 is to be transferred to the bank card of the orphans.
Of this number, 500 orphans in Kulob, Vose, Norak, Khuroson, Bokhtar, Kushoniyon, Vakhsh, Levakand, Yovon, Abdurahmon Jomi, Jaloliddin Balkhi, Jayhun, Dusti, Kubodiyon, Shahritus, Panj of Khatlon region, and 100 people in Khorug and Shugnon of GBAO receive financial support.
During the reporting period, with the support of the Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates, the third stage of the project “Guidance for orphans in Tajikistan” was launched, within which more than 1,500 orphans of Khatlon, GBAO, Dushanbe, cities and districts of republican subordination were helped. Under this project, the somoni equivalent of 180 UAE dirhams is to be provided for one orphan per month.
Kurboniyon said that the RCST is constantly taking the necessary measures to implement the policy of the government of Tajikistan related to supporting orphans and disabled children, low-income families, and contributes to the solution of social issues of the country’s citizens.
The RCST is a national humanitarian organization whose activities are aimed at improving the well-being of all those in need.
Since 1927, the RCST has been recognized by its partners for its rich experience in implementing humanitarian and social programs, as a stable national organization with a wide network of volunteers, sectors and primary organizations, stable cooperation with the local community.
The RCST sees its main task in the development of the community through the recruitment of volunteers and the implementation of small projects with the participation of communities in accordance with the programs.
