Resilience of Important Highways of Tajikistan to Natural Disasters Will Be Increased

DUSHANBE, 01.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On June 29, an agreement was signed between Tajikistan and the International Development Association on financing the Project “Improving preparedness and resilience to natural disasters in Tajikistan,” reports the Ministry of Finance.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance Fayziddin Kahhorzoda, and the World Bank Country Manager for Tajikistan Ozan Sevimli.
The goal of the project is to increase the resilience of important highways, strengthen the capacity related to disaster risk management, in the event of a crisis or emergency — to quickly and effectively respond to the above situations.
The total cost of the project is 35.8 million special lending rights, which is equal to $50 million.
The project started in 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2027.
