Tajikistan Produced Over 10.4 Billion kWh Electricity in 2022

DUSHANBE, 13.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – For the first six months of this year, over 10.4 billion kWh of electricity was produced in Tajikistan, which is 341 million kWh more than in the same period last year, and its growth rate is 103.4%, said First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources Jamshed Shoimzoda at a press conference yesterday.
The total volume of electricity exported during this period reached over 1 billion kWh or 426.2 million somoni, which is 141.5 million kWh more compared to the same period last year, with the growth rate at 115.4%.
During this period, Tajikistan exported electricity mainly to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
“The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources in collaboration with the government paid special attention to the issue of restoring existing capacities in order to build new hydroelectric power plants, and in this context, the modernization of the Norak, Sarband, and Kayrokkum hydroelectric power plants is now in full swing. After the complete reconstruction, the total capacity of these power plants will increase by 370 MW compared to their actual current capacity,” added Shoimzoda.
