Dushanbe Will Host Tajikistan-Russia International Investment Forum

DUSHANBE, 29.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Tajikistan-Russia international investment forum will be held on September 15 at the National Library in Dushanbe.
According to the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan, one of the central topics of the forum will be the results of cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.
The parties will be presented with investment opportunities avialable in Tajikistan and Russia, and new initiatives and models of investment cooperation.
The forum is expected to gather 50 people from both parties, including representatives of the government, ministries and departments, working circles, experts, and analysts.
The signing of agreements and memorandums of cooperation between entrepreneurs of both countries is also expected.
According to the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management, in 2007-2021 the economy of Tajikistan received over $1.64 billion of investments from Russia, which is 15% of the total volume of foreign investments received over these 14 years.
Investments in the economy of Tajikistan from Russia were made in the construction and communications industries, geological exploration, financial intermediation, healthcare, trade, energy, tourism, and other sectors.
Despite a significant decline in Russian investment since the second half of 2010s, in terms of investment in the Tajik economy, only China is ahead of Russia.
China, by contrast, has increased its investment into Tajikistan’s economy over the past decade.
In 2007-2021, China’s total investment in the economy of Tajikistan amounted to over $3.25 billion, which is 29.5% of the total investment in the country’s economy.
