Geneva Hosts Social Forum of Human Rights Council

DUSHANBE, 04.11.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – From November 3 through November 4, the Social Forum of the Human Rights Council took place in Geneva.
In accordance with resolution 47/20, it focused on water for human rights and sustainable development, good practices, lessons learned, and challenges in the implementation of the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028,» with a view to making a human rights contribution to the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Decade, which will be held in New York on 22-24 March 2023.
Special Envoy of the President of Tajikistan for Water and Climate Sulton Rahimzoda delivered a keynote speech at the opening of the forum, during which rights to water and sanitation, preparatory meeting for the UN 2023 Water Conference Water for Health, Water Action Decade and its Water Action Agenda were raised.
The event provided a unique space for interactive dialogue between the United Nations human rights machinery and various stakeholders, including the civil society for supporting further action and initiatives to accelerate the achievement and promote the implementation of the set objectives.
