DUSHANBE, 07.12.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, as part of the 37th meeting of the UN-Water mechanism in Paris, preparations for the UN 2023 Water Conference, which will be held from March 22 through March 24, in New York under the co-chairmanship of Tajikistan and the Netherlands, were discussed.
Special Envoy of the President of Tajikistan to the Coalition of Leaders for Water and Climate Sulton Rahimzoda and Special Envoy of the Netherlands for International Water Affairs Henk Ovink made a presentation and provided comprehensive information on the preparations for the Conference.
The importance of the UN 2023 Water Conference 2023 for the world community was noted, which will be a historic event in terms of time dimension, because this is the second UN Conference in the last 50 years dedicated to water resources.
Particular emphasis is placed on the Conference Water Action Agenda, which will contain innovative actions aimed at achieving concrete results on water by UN Member States, international organizations, financial institutions and other stakeholders, which should become decisive in achieving global goals and objectives on water, including those contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Special envoys of Tajikistan and the Netherlands called on the international community to participate in the Conference at the level of heads of state and government, international organizations, financial institutions and come to the Conference with voluntary commitments in order to make it effective.
They also called on developed states to assist developing and less developed countries in ensuring their participation in the Conference and the implementation of the voluntary commitments made, including through the creation of coalitions from developed countries, international financial institutions and other donors in the implementation of voluntary commitments.
