Tajikistan Harvests About a Million Tons of Grain

DUSHANBE, 07.12.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – About 1 million tons of grain were harvested in Tajikistan as of December 2.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this year the total area of cereals amounted to 304,300 hectares.
By the specified date, grains have been harvested from all this area, including in Khatlon, Sughd, districts of republican subordination and GBAO.
The average grain yield in the republic amounted to 32.2 centners per hectare.
The total grain harvest amounted to 976,559 tons, which is 75,739 tons more compared to the same period last year.
The country’s demand for wheat is 1.5 million tons. Tajikistan imports part of the necessary wheat from Kazakhstan.
Earlier, the administration of GBAO announced that it is planned to restore abandoned agricultural land in a number of districts of the region.
At the moment, more than 32 hectares of rice fields have been prepared in the Rushon and Roshtkala districts.
