Tajik Delegation Attends the First Meeting of the Joint Working Group on Afghanistan as part of the Central Asia – India Dialogue

DUSHANBE, 10.03.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On March 7, the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Afghanistan as part of the Central Asia-India Dialogue was held in New Delhi with the participation of the heads of the relevant structural units /special envoys of the ministries of foreign affairs of Central Asia and India.
The parties exchanged views on the political, security and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, contemporary threats such as terrorism, extremism, radicalization and drug trafficking emanating from the territory of this country, as well as ways and means to counter regional security challenges.
In their turn, the representatives of the World Food Program and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime informed the audience about their activities in Afghanistan in the field of eliminating the consequences of the humanitarian crisis and preventing drug trafficking.
A Joint Statement was adopted following the meeting.
