Reconstruction of the Guliston-Farkhor-Panj-Dusti Highway Discussed in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 02.06.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The issues of reconstruction of the Guliston-Farkhor-Panj-Dusti highway, including the first section of the road from the village of Guliston to the Farkhor district, were discussed by the Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim and the delegation of the Islamic Development Bank led by the Regional Director for Central Asia Ibrahim Shukri.
The meeting also focused on a new strategy for cooperation between the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and the IDB group, as well as project financing.
The Guliston-Farkhor-Panj-Dusti highway, the reconstruction of which is financed by the IDB, is part of the international highway and creates good conditions for access to the routes of foreign countries with access to seaports.
According to the ministry, this route is of great economic and social importance, it contributes to the expansion of passenger and freight traffic, suburban trade, the development of tourism, and the reduction in prices for goods and transport services.
Shukri expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the Center for the Implementation of the Dushanbe-Chanok Road Rehabilitation Project and stated that the IDB will provide an international consultant to strengthen the workforce in studying new road construction methods that have recently been adopted for project management and implementation.
The parties also discussed the choice of other advisers and contractors in this project.
