Tajikistan and Turkmenistan Discuss Development of Trade and Economic Cooperation in Ashgabat

DUSHANBE, 17.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On July 15-16, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin paid an official visit to Turkmenistan.
He was received by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Muhriddin also had talks with his Turkmen counterpart, which focused on topical issues of Tajik-Turkmen relations in political, economic, humanitarian and other areas.
The ministers also exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the UN, CIS, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and other international and regional organizations.
They also had an exchange of views on regional security and the situation in Afghanistan.
It was paid particular attention to the roadmap for the implementation of the results of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Tajikistan in the first half of May 2023. The ministers also discussed preparations for the next meeting of the Tajik-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Dushanbe this autumn, confirming the determination of both sides to increase the volume of bilateral trade in the coming years.
The officials discussed in detail the issues of preparation for the Fifth Anniversary Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States and the next meeting of the Council of the Heads of the IFAS Founding States to be held in Dushanbe on September 14-15.
In this context, it was expressed confidence that the upcoming Dushanbe summits at the highest level will qualitatively complement the process of developing regional cooperation.
