UN Representatives Visit Khatlon Region

DUSHANBE, 28.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) — The development of bilateral cooperation, the implementation of joint programs and projects were discussed on July 25 in Bokhtar by the Chairman of the Khatlon region Davlatali Said and the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Tajikistan Lenny Montiel.
It was informed that Khatlon region is one of the developing regions of the country, the climatic conditions of the region allow to grow crops. Every year, farmers of the region export more than 100,000 tons of products, including fruits and vegetables. There is an opportunity to increase the export of agricultural products, especially early vegetables, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and fruits.
The guests were also informed about other available opportunities in the region, where favorable conditions for business and investment development have been created.
It was expressed that the UN is always ready to support the sustainable development of the economy of Tajikistan, as well as to stimulate cooperation.
