DUSHANBE, 04.08.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – In honor of the International Year of Glacier Conservation, Glaciers Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan received from Swiss development partners two modern innovative stations — Campbell Scientific CR1000X and Campbell Scientific CR6, which are of particular importance for the study of glaciers in Tajikistan.
These stations were delivered to the Glacier Research Center for installation near Glacier 457 and on the Zulmart Glacier itself.
One of the most important tasks of the new stations is an in-depth study of the main indicators of the glaciers of Tajikistan and obtaining more detailed and accurate information about the current state, as well as forecasting their future state and a general study of the water resources of the republic at the national and regional levels.
The task of the first station — Campbell Scientific CR1000X, which will be installed on glacier No. 457 — is to measure temperature, humidity, wind, all components of solar radiation, incoming and outgoing long and short waves, as well as measuring snow depth.
The task of the second station — Campbell Scientific CR6, which will be installed on the Zulmart glacier, is to measure the degree of evaporation of the glacier itself.
The next step after receiving the stations is their installation on the glaciers of Tajikistan.
