Loan Agreements Signed between Tajikistan and the OPEC Fund for International Development

DUSHANBE, 21.12.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Loan agreements were signed between Tajikistan and the OPEC Fund for International Development to jointly finance the first stage of the project “Reconstruction of the Guliston — Farkhor — Panj — Dusti highway” and the second stage of the project “Support for the implementation of the National Education Development Strategy.”
The loan agreements were signed during a meeting between the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Faiziddin Kahhorzoda and the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development Abdulhamid Alkhalifa.
The main goal of the project “Reconstruction of the Guliston – Farkhor – Panj – Dusti highway” is to improve the efficiency and quality of the highway network of Tajikistan and promote the development of the international transit potential of the country.
The agreement is worth $10 million and is fully financed by a concessional loan from the OPEC Fund for International Development.
The purpose of co-financing the second stage of the project “Support for the implementation of the National Education Development Strategy” is to contribute to improving the field of education and strengthening the education system in Tajikistan by updating and expanding access to school infrastructure, creating and expanding a system of continuous professional training for teachers, introducing National Learning Assessment and Monitoring educational achievements.
The amount of this agreement is $8 million and is fully financed from a concessional loan from the OPEC Fund for International Development.
