DUSHANBE, 22.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, as part of his visit to Baku and participation in the 14th session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Speaker of the Assembly of Representatives Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda met with the Chair of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.

It was emphasized that today’s meeting will give a serious impetus to the development of inter-parliamentary relations.

It was noted that Azerbaijan occupies one of the important places in the foreign policy strategy of Tajikistan and Tajikistan is interested in further development and strengthening of cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Zokirzoda expressed the interest of the Parliament of Tajikistan in developing and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation with the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.

“The process of expanding bilateral inter-parliamentary relations between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan shows that the parties are always interested in strengthening mutually beneficial ties. The Inter-Parliamentary Group of Friendship and Cooperation with the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan is one of the first organized after gaining state independence and the creation of the Parliament of Tajikistan,” stated Speaker of the Assembly of Representatives.

It was also noted cooperation with the Parliament of Azerbaijan within the framework of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, ECO Parliamentary Assembly and other regional and global organizations and associations.
