First Deputy Prime Minister Attends the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

DUSHANBE, 16.07.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Hokim Kholikzoda took part in a high-level political forum on sustainable development on July 15 in New York.
It was noted that in order to achieve progress in this area, it is necessary to expand international cooperation and financial and technical support for development partners in all economic, social and environmental aspects.
“Over the past 5 years, Tajikistan has managed to maintain economic growth at an average annual level of 7.4%, gross domestic product per capita has increased by 2.3 times, and the poverty level in the country has decreased from 83% in 2003 to 21.2% in 2023 year. Over the past 5 years, the level of well-being of the population has constantly increased, and the income of the population has increased by 4.4 times. The average salary increased by 2.1 times, and the pension by 1.9 times,” noted Kholikzoda.
It was provided information on international initiatives of Tajikistan in the field of protecting water, climate and glaciers, including the results of the Third High-Level Conference of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”.
