DUSHANBE, 01/28/2025 /NIAT «Khovar»/. Tajikistan is establishing a Road Fund to pay for the building and maintenance of the country’s road network. On this matter the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was signed on December 26, 2024, reports Khovar, citing press centre of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.
The ministry has been tasked with collaborating with Ministries of Finance, Economic Development and Trade, Justice and the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan to submit proposals on organizational, legal, and financial aspects of the Road Fund’s establishment to the government within three months.
The Road Fund operates in many developed countries of the world. Until the early 1990s, such a fund also existed in the post-Soviet countries, but it was later liquidated. In recent years, the Road Fund has been re-established in these countries.
According to Ministry of Transport, the creation of the fund represents another step in implementing reforms in Tajikistan’s road and transport sector.
