DUSHANBE, 25.02.2025 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Tajikistan together with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will apply for the right to host the Asian Cup-2031 on soccer, reports Khovar, citing the Football Federation of Tajikistan.
The soccer federations of the three Central Asian countries have agreed to jointly submit a bid to host the Asian championship in 2031. The Asian Cup has never before been held in Central Asia.
The desire to submit a joint bid to host the Asian Cup was announced by the President of the Central Asian Football Association, Rustami Emomali, back at the CAFA Congress in 2023.
“Ours, the Central Asian region, has never hosted the Asian Cup finals before in history. I think this time has come. Our region is represented by very strong national teams and I am sure that together with our brother countries we will host the Asian Cup finals at the highest level,” CAFA President Rustami Emomali said at the time.
President of Asian Football Confederation Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa in his speech at the CAFA Congress in Dushanbe in 2023 welcomed the initiative of Rustami Emomali to submit a joint bid of Central Asian countries to host the final part of the Asian Cup and said that this region deserves to host the Asian championship among national teams.
