On March 14, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbaev.

The meeting discussed multilateral cooperation between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, expressed satisfaction with the fruitful activities of the Organization over the past 24 years and the cooperation between the member states.

It was emphasized that “Tajikistan actively supports the process of comprehensive modernization of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which was launched by the decision of the heads of member states».

Great attention was paid to the development of cooperation between the member states in the fields of trade, economy, finance and banking.

The issues of ensuring security and stability, combating terrorism and extremism, separatism, transnational organized crime, and the growth of threats and dangers to the region were among the important topics of discussion.

There was also an exchange of views on the implementation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Economic Development Strategy until 2030 and the importance and priority of establishing the SCO Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe.
