DUSHANBE, 19.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – Member countries of the Intergovernmental Council of the CASA-1000 Regional Electricity Transmission Project have agreed to adopt and comply with a unified Technical Code, aimed at facilitating coordinated energy exchange and system integration across Central and South Asia.
The decision was made during the latest meeting of the Intergovernmental Council, held from May 13 through May 16 in Dushanbe.
The Technical Code, developed by a joint working group, is a key regulatory document that outlines technical standards and operational protocols for power transmission within the CASA-1000 framework.
Officials emphasized that implementation of the Technical Code is critical for the successful parallel integration of national energy systems involved in the project. The document forms part of the core legal and technical architecture of CASA-1000, ensuring consistency and reliability in cross-border electricity flows.
The CASA-1000 project aims to enable surplus hydroelectric power from Central Asia, particularly Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, to be transmitted to Afghanistan and Pakistan, contributing to regional energy security and economic development.
