DUSHANBE, 29.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On May 29, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, received the First Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the First International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations and its agencies.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, noted that, thanks to the fruitful cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations, our country’s initiatives on water and climate issues have gained wide support in the international arena.
Great attention was paid to the issues on the agenda of the first high-level conference on glaciers to be held in Tajikistan.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan consistently cooperates effectively with international partners, especially with UN agencies, to ensure peace and stability around the world.
Constructive and extensive cooperation with the Organization in the field of water and climate and the next important international initiative of Tajikistan together with France on the adoption of a General Assembly resolution on the «Decade of Cryospheric Sciences» were among the important topics of discussion.
