High-level meetings and negotiations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan

DUSHANBE, 08.07.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – In the Palace of the Nation, issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan were discussed at a special meeting of the Heads of State and with the participation of official delegations.
The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, welcomed the distinguished guest — Sadyr Japarov and his accompanying delegation to Tajikistan.
During the meetings and negotiations, a wide range of issues of mutual interest were discussed, including the expansion of cooperation in the political, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres. The heads of the two states expressed satisfaction with the finalization of the delimitation of the state border between the two countries, while emphasizing that work on the completion of the demarcation is also continuing in coordination between the parties.
Strengthening and expanding parliamentary ties was called an important means of developing bilateral cooperation.
Enhancing economic cooperation and expanding ties at the regional level, including between border districts, were considered necessary.
The implementation of joint projects in the fields of agriculture and light and food industry was considered a priority area for increasing mutual investment. It was proposed to expand cooperation in the export and import of agricultural and food products.
The parties expressed interest in investing in free economic zones, developing logistics and industrial centers, and expanding partnership in the field of information systems development.
Much attention was paid to bolstering cooperation in promising energy sectors, expanding transit and transport highways, and increasing the number of flights.
The Tajik side expressed its readiness to develop cooperation in the field of healthcare, relations between scientific and research institutions, medical and health care institutions, and sanatoriums and resorts.
The holding of festivals, exhibitions, and other cultural events was called an important factor in reinforcing cultural and humanitarian ties between peoples.
The fight against terrorism, extremism, religious extremism, drug trafficking, cybercrime and other manifestations of transnational organized crime were in the spotlight.
Close cooperation to address the problems of climate change, the consequences of global warming, and the preservation of glaciers were other topics of discussion.
Also, fruitful discussions were held on the cooperation of the countries within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and other international and regional structures.
