DUSHANBE, 26.08.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On August 26, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, got acquainted with the progress of work on the permanent water intake of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The main task of the permanent water intake is to supply water to the water supply tunnels in 3 stages, depending on the water level in the reservoir, to maintain the strength of the rock layer and prevent the displacement of rock after the reservoir is filled with water. Water is delivered through this structure on the left bank of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant to the turbines of the units.
First, to start the operation of units No. 3 and No. 4, the water supply tunnels receive water from an altitude of 1,152 meters above sea level. Water enters the water supply tunnels of units No. 1, 2, 5 and 6 from an altitude of 1,172 meters above sea level.
To regulate the incoming water at the permanent water intake site at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level, vertical shafts with a diameter of 13.6 meters have been built above each tunnel. Tunneling and reinforcement have been completed in this facility, and cementing is being completed for stabilization purposes. At this height, the process of water discharge from the vertical tunnels is regulated through gates.
Considering the important role of vertical tunnels in managing the operation of the power plant, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, instructed relevant officials and specialists to complete the construction work in a timely and high-quality manner.
Currently, excavation, concreting, anchoring and drilling of drainage wells are continuing in two shifts. In total, 92% of the earthworks have been completed in this section, 49% of the concrete has been poured, 81% of the drilling and anchoring has been completed, 23% of the concrete laying has been accomplished, and 18% of the drilling of drainage wells has been completed.
At the Rogun Hydropower Plant, specialists and workers are currently working around the clock, enthusiastically trying to complete the construction in accordance with the project specifications and on time.
At the same time, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, observed the progress of concreting and anchoring the walls on the left and right banks of the power plant dam, which is continuing in accordance with the project requirements.
During his visit to the Rogun Hydropower Plant, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was also accompanied by the Prime Minister of the country, Kokhir Rasulzoda, and the heads of relevant ministries and agencies.
