Emomali Rahmon and Xi Jinping discuss the establishment of data centers, cybersecurity, and the application of artificial intelligence

DUSHANBE, 02.09.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 2, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honourable Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Honourable Xi Jinping in Beijing.
The meeting discussed a range of issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China, including relations within the framework of international and regional organizations, with great focus on the agenda of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The President of our country, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that «We highly appreciate your worthy contribution, Mr. Xi Jinping, to the expansion of multifaceted cooperation between our countries.»
It was highlighted that, despite the difficult geopolitical conditions, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is making its contribution to ensuring security and stability and expanding beneficial interstate relations.
Our Head of State, stressing support for the new initiative of the President of the People’s Republic of China, “Global Governance”, stated that this initiative is consistent with the continuous efforts of the Tajik side to ensure the rule of law, complete peace, security, and sustainable development, and has great potential for promoting our common goals.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the improvement of cooperation tools in the “Central Asia-China” framework.
Great attention was paid to the issues of further enhancing cooperation in all areas that meet the interests of the peoples of the two countries, including economic and trade, digitalization, modernization and development of transport infrastructure, logistics, use of transit opportunities, and attracting Chinese investment and technologies to the Tajik economy.
The establishment of information and technological service centers (Data centers), strengthening cybersecurity, and the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies were named as other areas of strategic cooperation.
Cooperation between the two countries in the field of hydropower was also named as a priority.
The expansion of interregional cooperation was considered to be in line with common interests.
The development of relations in the fields of culture, education, science and technology, and tourism was considered appropriate.
It was emphasized that both countries have similar positions in ensuring security and combating modern threats and challenges.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendship and sincerity.
