DUSHANBE, 26.09.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 26, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, during a working visit to the city of Vahdat, inaugurated the new building of the Children’s Tuberculosis Hospital under the State Institution «National Center for Tuberculosis, Pulmonary and Thoracic Surgery» and got acquainted with the working conditions and services provided there.
This hospital was built with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and financed by the German Development Bank.
The new facility was built as part of the implementation of the state’s social policy with a modern design that meets international medical standards, and it provides favorable and modern conditions for the treatment and care of children with tuberculosis.
Construction work on the Children’s Tuberculosis Hospital under the State Institution «National Center for Tuberculosis, Pulmonary and Thoracic Surgery» began in 2023 and was fully completed in September 2025, with the involvement of more than 100 local specialists and a cost of 2 million 595 thousand 274 euros.
The total area of the facility is 15 thousand 434 square meters, and the building area is 1 thousand 554.8 square meters.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that the building of the Children’s Tuberculosis Hospital consists of 2 floors and has 50 beds. There are ample opportunities for diagnosis and treatment here, and all conditions have been created to improve the level and quality of medical services.
The hospital has departments for drug-resistant tuberculosis, re-infected tuberculosis, a department for adapted forms of pediatric tuberculosis, pediatric tuberculosis surgery, and other necessary departments.
The Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, while familiarizing himself with the conditions of the hospital, emphasized that the healthcare sector and children’s health protection are always at the center of attention of the Government of the country.
It is worth recalling that, based on the State Program for Combating Tuberculosis in the Republic of Tajikistan and with the direct support of the President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, in 2006, with project financing from the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the German Development Bank, the reconstruction of the Republican Clinical Tuberculosis Hospital began and was opened in 2011.
Based on the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated January 12, 2013, the Republican Clinical Tuberculosis Hospital was transformed into the State Institution «National Center for Tuberculosis, Pulmonary and Thoracic Surgery» for 400 beds.
This hospital currently has 14 departments with 420 beds.
It was emphasized that the opening of this modern medical institution is another clear sign of the Government of Tajikistan’s continuous care for the future generation of the country. Using the capabilities of the Children’s Tuberculosis Hospital, the diagnosis and treatment of dangerous childhood diseases will be brought to a qualitatively new level, and the medical services in the country will be further improved.
In order to provide the facility with heat when necessary and to save electricity, 36 solar water heaters have been installed on the roof of the newly built building. In addition, the hospital has 3 60-kilowatt electric boilers, which automatically start up in case of insufficient solar water heater capacity. An air purification system is also installed on the roof of the facility, which is able to constantly maintain clean air inside the institution.
