On October 10, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held at the Palace of the Nation, chaired by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon.
At the meeting venue, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, warmly welcomed the high-ranking guests one by one.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev arrived at the Palace of the Nation to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Following the arrival of the meeting participants, a joint photo ceremony was held for the heads of state.
Then, the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States began under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon.
The Head of our state, Emomali Rahmon, warmly welcomed the heads of state and members of the delegations who arrived in Tajikistan.
Emomali Rahmon emphasized that during its year as Chairman of the Commonwealth, Tajikistan, in close cooperation with the participating states and the Executive Committee, continued its comprehensive work to effectively implement its goals.
The Leader of the Nation noted that Tajikistan’s activities as Chairman of the Commonwealth were aimed at achieving practical results in developing cooperation within the Commonwealth.
In continuation of the meeting, the President of our country stated in his speech that the main focus was on improving the Organization’s activities, expanding trade, economic, transport, and logistics cooperation, digital integration, as well as ensuring energy stability and actively promoting humanitarian cooperation. Particular importance was also placed on strengthening cooperation in countering modern challenges and threats.
In this context, the meeting addressed pressing issues of security cooperation, including the fight against terrorism and extremism, and strengthening border and military cooperation.
It was noted that the statement on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the UN reflects a shared commitment to strengthening international peace and security.
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, also emphasized the importance of adopting decisions on the «CIS Plus» initiative and granting observer status to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization within the Commonwealth of Independent States, calling this a significant step toward expanding the Commonwealth’s international ties.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, pointed out that strengthening cultural dialogue and humanitarian cooperation contributes to the preservation and enhancement of a shared cultural heritage and the creation of an atmosphere of solidarity within the Commonwealth.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan would continue to promote cooperation in this area.
The Head of State also expressed gratitude to all participating countries for their fruitful support during the chairmanship and for their contribution to achieving the goals and objectives of the Concept of Tajikistan’s Chairmanship.
In conclusion, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, congratulated fraternal Turkmenistan on assuming the chairmanship of the Commonwealth, wishing Serdar Berdimuhamedov success in achieving his goals and further strengthening fruitful cooperation between the countries of the Commonwealth.
Following the speeches by the heads of state and the report of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the relevant documents were adopted.
Following the signing of the documents, Mikhail Shvydkoy, Co-Chair of the Board of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation (IFHC) of the CIS Participating States, member of the CIS Council for Humanitarian Cooperation, and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Humanitarian Cooperation, announced the decision of the Board of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Participating States to award the Chairman of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, with the medal «For Services in the Development of Humanitarian Cooperation.»
Following the awards ceremony, the Head of State, in his closing speech, thanked the IFHS for its high recognition of his achievements and noted that he viewed this award as a high recognition of the contribution of the entire people of Tajikistan to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties within the CIS.
Then, thanking the meeting participants for their productive work, the Leader of the Nation declared the meeting closed.
