On November 25, a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Head of the Government of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon.

At the meeting, first of all, the report of the Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma on the Program for the Development of the Electric Power Sector for 2026-2030 was heard.

It was emphasized that the draft decision was developed and submitted with the aim of “Ensuring energy security and efficient use of electric energy”, which is one of the key goals of the National Development Strategy of the Republic.

It was noted that the implementation of the Program is expected to achieve the following results: 2,680 MW of new electricity generation capacity from new hydroelectric power plants, 253 MW of additional electricity generation capacity from the reconstruction of existing power plants and the restoration of 440 MW of lost capacity due to equipment obsolescence, 1,500 MW from solar energy, reducing the level of electricity losses in power transmission networks to 3 percent, reducing the level of electricity losses in power distribution networks to 9 percent, and increasing electricity exports to 5 billion kilowatt hours.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, instructed ministries, departments, and executive bodies of state power in regions, cities, and districts to take appropriate measures to implement this Program and its action plan, and to report on its results annually.

It was also instructed to study the issue of installing solar panels in people’s homes and their connection and coordination with the country’s electricity networks.

In addition, it was emphasized that the culture of economical use of electricity should be widely promoted among the people.

The draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On introducing amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan”, which was developed to eliminate shortcomings in the energy sector, was considered at the meeting. It was noted that this Law provides for increased criminal liability for the illegal use of electricity, including for the production of cryptocurrency.

After discussion, the draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan” and the draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Other Mandatory Payments to the Budget” were submitted for consideration to the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the State Programs for the Development of Culture and Arts in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030, the Development of Exports of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030, the Development and Digitalization Program in the Executive Bodies of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030, and the Program for Combating the Epidemic of Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Parenteral Viral Hepatitis in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030 were also discussed and the necessary conclusions were drawn.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, instructed officials of state structures to fulfill tasks and resolve the issues raised at the meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Other instructions were given on urgent issues, including sufficient food supplies, conducting the winter at a high organizational level, preparing and planting agricultural lands in compliance with agrotechnical rules, expanding improvement and construction works in anticipation of the 35th anniversary of the state independence, etc.
