On December 19, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met in Tokyo with the President of the House of Councillors of the Japanese Parliament Sekiguchi Masakazu.

The President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that Tajikistan pays special attention to interparliamentary cooperation with Japan.

Parliamentary diplomacy was called an effective means of further strengthening interstate dialogue.

It was considered necessary to promote active relations between the Friendship and Cooperation Group of the Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and the House of Councillors of the Japanese Parliament.

The parties also exchanged views on other aspects of friendly relations between Tajikistan and Japan, areas of interest, including the development of cooperation in important socio-economic sectors, infrastructure, industry, energy, agriculture, environmental protection, and healthcare.

Attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the digital economy, the introduction of «green» technologies, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Attracting investment in the tourism sector, developing practical cooperation with Japan in the field of labor migration, and expanding cultural and humanitarian relations were other topics of discussion.
