Tajikistan, United Nations Discuss 2027-2030 Sustainable Development Agenda

On Feb. 5, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan held a meeting of the Joint Steering Committee of the government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations to review priorities of the United Nations Cooperation Agenda for Sustainable Development for 2027-2030.
According to the ministry, the meeting was co-chaired by Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda, Tajikistan’s minister of economic development and trade, and Parvati Ramaswamy, the U.N. resident coordinator in Tajikistan.
Participants discussed key priorities within the framework of cooperation on sustainable development for 2027-2030 and draft country programs of U.N. agencies, including the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Children’s Fund, United Nations Trust Fund and the World Food Programme.
Officials noted that under the policies of President Emomali Rahmon and through cooperation with U.N. country agencies and other development partners, macroeconomic stability has been maintained in Tajikistan.
The sides adopted decisions on agenda items and expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation to ensure effective implementation of the new cooperation framework and country programs of U.N. agencies.
